Las Vegas - Later tonight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) will enter the ring for what the fighter claims is the "last time" in his 19-year career.
Mayweather is adamant that he will retire in the aftermath of his WBC/WBA welterweight title defense against Andre Berto. The fight tops a four bout Showtime Pay-Per-View event.
Most insiders believe Mayweather will continue, at least until he breaks the 49-0 unbeaten streak of heavyweight legend Rocky Marciano.
Floyd's father and trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr., won't deny his son's interest in breaking that record.
"Anybody would want to break the record. I'm not going to say that he don't want to break the record too. I'm not going to say that. Who wouldn't want to break the record? The record ain't nothing to break. If he fought someone like Marciano fought, all them bums - he'll break the f***ing record," Mayweather Sr. said.
If Mayweather dominates tonight, as many expect him to do, his father will advise him to do one more fight. Whether or not he accepts that advise is another story.
"If he looks good Saturday, I'm gonna say 'lets do it one more time [and] this is your last one,'" Mayweather Sr. said.
