Floyd Mayweather Sr. has confirmed that he is under heavy consideration to become the new trainer of Manchester's Ricky Hatton. Several days ago, Hatton fired longtime trainer Billy Graham, who trained him since he was a teenager. Details of why Graham was fired have not been revealed, but a rift has been rumored since Hatton's knockout loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last December.
Hatton is slated to face IBF junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi on November 22 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather Sr. told writer David Mayo that Hatton's team is considering him to take over the trainer's position.
Mayweather Sr. also told Mayo that he exepcted to become the new trainer of undefeated UK lightweight superstar Amir Khan, and was surprised when Khan announced that Cuban Jorge Rubio Agramonte had landed the job.
