It was announced today by Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, at the press conference which was held at the Nokia Theater at L.A Live - that tickets for the long awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao would range between $1,500 to $7,500. However, it's still not known what the pay-per-view broadcast will be priced at.
"Being determined,"is what Ken Hershman, the President of HBO Sports told BoxingScene.com on Wednesday afternoon."I don't want to get ahead of the announcement but it'll be very soon that we determine what that is."
It's being widely speculated that this pay-per-view event on May 2nd will retail for no less than $89.99 (with the added surcharge of ten dollars for the high-definition broadcast).
For Hershman, who once ran Showtime Sports, this just might be the most prestigious event he has ever been involved in.
"I think this has to be the biggest. I'm sort of blown away at the turnout today, the reaction to the fight when it was announced and I've been involved in (Mike) Tyson-(Evander) Holyfield, Tyson-Holyfied 2, (Lennox) Lewis-Tyson. This is just degrees higher than that. It's exciting."
