Now that the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight has been finalized for May 2 in Las Vegas, the next question is which fighters will appear on the undercard.
There is a possibility Vasyl Lomachenko could appear on the televised undercard, manager Egis Klimas told BoxingScene.com this past week.
"That is the plan," said Klimas, who also manages Sergey Kovalev and Evgeny Gradovich. "We want Vasyl to fight no later than May. If the fight (between Mayweather and Pacquiao) gets made, we'd like Vasyl to fight on May 2."
According to some of the details that became public on Friday, the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will headline a three-fight telecast. One of the two bouts will feature a Top Rank fighter while the other features a Mayweather Promotions fighter.
Lomachenko (3-1, 1 KO) has fought under the Top Rank banner since making his professional debut in October of 2013.
In his last bout on November 23, Lomachenko won a one-sided unanimous decision over Chonlatarn Piriyapingo. The two-time Olympic Gold Medalist suffered an injury to his left hand in the sixth round of that fight, fighting with mostly one hand the rest of the way.
X-rays taken after the fight showed no break in Lomachenko's hand.
