MORE LIVE RESULTS TO COME...................
MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Junior welterweight prospect Damian Sosa (8-1, 6KOs), trained by Robert Garcia, suffered his first career defeat to Armando Lopes (5-3-1KO). The scores were 57-56, 58-55, 59-54. Sosa, who was dropped in the second round, had a lot of trouble with Lopes' style.
Welterweight Fabian Maidana (3-0, 2KOs), the younger brother of Marcos Maidana, destroyed Jared Teer (2-3) in the first round. After two knockdowns the fight was pretty much over.
Making his pro debut for Mayweather Promotions, middleweight prospect Kevin Newman (0-0-1) went to a four round draw with Azat Umarzoto (0-0-1), who was also making his pro debut. Both fighters appeared have nervous jitters in the ring and there wasn't much action from either in a lackluster opener. The scores were 39-37 for Newman, 39-37 for Umarzoto, and the third judge had it 38-38.
