LAS VEGAS --- Floyd Mayweather said the key to his victory over Marcos Maidana on Saturday night at the MGM Grand was his ability to make adjustments and stay composed under pressure
"I can make adjustments," Mayweather said. "That's the difference between me and any other fighter."
Mayweather said sometimes he finds himself in a Catch-22.
"He was rugged," Mayweather said. "He was a tough guy. I think everybody is used to seeing me just outbox guys and beat guys and guys not win one round. So today was more of a competitive fight. Like we never seen Floyd in a competitive fight, which is a Catch-22. When I'm in a competitive fight, they like, 'Damn, what's going on with Floyd?'And if I beat guy and he don't win any rounds, they like, 'That was a boring fight.' So tonight we gave everybody an exciting fight. That's what everybody wanted to see. Everybody that tuned in to pay-per-view, thank you."
Mayweather left the door open for a rematch.
"If he feel he won, September he can get it again," Mayweather said. "I'm just saying, if he feel he won. Did he win some rounds? Absolutely. Absolutely. I'm not going to cry and complain about how the judges judge the fight, because with my last fight against Canelo one judge gave him the fight. So that don't mean they are always right."
Was Mayweather surprised by the severity of Maidana's attack, starting in the first round?
"Absolutely not. That's what he do every fight," Mayweather said. "With me, I keep my composure. I keep my composure and relax. Everything I do, there's thought behind it. It's a process and that's what I did."
