Reacting to critics who are not pleased his upcoming fight, WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. says there is nobody left to fight out there.
He considers Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto to be the three biggest opponents in terms of name value and skill (besides himself) - and he already beat all three.
He decisioned Cotto at 154-pounds in 2012, decisioned Canelo at 152-pounds in 2013 and then won a twelve round decision over Pacquiao this past May. In between those fights he won decisions over Robert Guerrero and Marcos Maidana, twice.
On September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mayweather will defend his belts against former WBC/IBF champion Andre Berto.
"I think your biggest fighters in the sport of boxing are Canelo, Pacquiao, Cotto and Mayweather. So if I beat them, I already beat all the tops guys in the sport, and I've been doing this from day one. So there is nooone else to fight. We looked in the junior middleweight division and the welterweight division, and there is only one fighter who stands out alone - Floyd Mayweather. So I think that I can choose whoever I want to choose to fight," Mayweather said.
