In a series of surprised moves, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has spent a better part of the week unleashing a variety of videos that are blasting UFC champion Conor McGregor.
The move has been surprising because Mayweather, just a few short weeks ago, complained that McGregor was using his name and he warned him - and others - to stop piggybacking on his legacy. Mayweather retired from the sport of boxing in September 2015.
Now that McGregor has quieted down, Mayweather has come out verbally swinging on his social media accounts and during interviews with the press.
Mayweather has now released a new video, where he contacted Nate Diaz via video chat - and promised to finish off McGregor.
“Hey, Nate, tell me what I gotta do,” Mayweather said in the video. “Do I gotta? That boy is … aw, man. I see what you did to him, now. I’m gonna put the finishing touches on him.”
In what was considered to be a big upset, Diaz made McGregor tap out in their initial meeting earlier this year. McGregor got revenge in their rematch, going through a vicious war to win a close decision on the cards.
DiscussingMcGregor's loss in a separate video earlier this week, Mayweather said he "quit like a b*tch."
He also offered fans a $10,000 prize for the best caption of McGregor tapping out to Diaz.
A few weeks ago, McGregor obtained a boxing license to compete in the state of California, which Mayweather’s camp labelled a “con job,” and an attempt to increase his fanbase. McGregor failed in his attempt to obtain a boxing license in Nevada - which would have allowed him to box in Las Vegas.
Earlier in November, McGregor set his terms for the potential bout, telling Mayweather that he wants “$100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules.”
“I don’t fight in California. What did he get a license in California for? .... I’m [going to] tell you like this, he’s blowing smoke up everybody’s a**. He don’t really want to fight because I went to his boss. He don’t really want to fight. He’s just doing that to keep his name alive, you know what I’m saying, to stay relevant. He don’t really want to fight. He’s doing that building his followers, but he’s smart," Mayweather told Fighthype.com.
In a separate video, Mayweather said he would physically attack McGregor if they ran into each other.
“I don’t give a f*** what night it was, I ain’t never taking no L. I’m f***ing McGregor up too. Punk-a** McGregor… I’m gonna slap McGregor. I’m gonna slap the s**t out of McGregor when I see him,” Mayweather said.
