MGM Grand, Las Vegas - WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) denied published reports that there are "secret negotiations" taking place for a potential mega-fight with WBO champion Manny Pacquiao.
Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, was quoted by several outlets as stating that there are "serious discussions" taking place, and both Showtime and HBO are onboard with the match. Mayweather says that information "is false."
"Not true. I can't say what the future holds. I think right now Arum and Pacquiao are trying to sell tickets for the other guy, [Chris] Algieri. They are trying to sell tickets for that fight. I don't know where they're fighting at. I don't know anything about that. But everybody is connected to Floyd. Like I said before, I'm relevant. Everybody always wants to be connected to me...somehow, some way..in a negative way or a positive way, everybody wants to be connected to Floyd," Mayweather said. "All of the stories that ya'll been hearing are totally false."
