WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has no idea why the critics are all over him for selecting Andre Berto as the opponent for his September 12th Showtime Pay-Per-View card from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather points to the Ultimate Fighting Championship [UFC], where fighters may have dropped a few defeats but came back with a win or two and were immediately handed a lucrative title shot in a pay-per-view headliner.

The bigger issue with the Berto fight is that fact Mayweather claims it's going to be the final bout of his pro career. Many in the industry don't believe him, but if that's the case than most would have rather seen him face Amir Khan or Keith Thurman.

"Like MMA [Mixed Martial Arts], you have guys in the MMA who are 10-9 and fighting for world championships.  This guy won over 80% of his fights and it's a problem now? Like I said before, I can only judge a guy off his last performance and every time he go out he's exciting," Mayweather explained to BoxingScene.com.
