The question buzzing all over the boxing world is whether or not Ricardo Mayorga will show up for his very anticipated pay-per-view bout against Oscar De La Hoya on May 6.
Mayorga, at the final press conference held earlier today in Las Vegas, claimed that he was promised a lot more money than the agreed upon $2 million dollars.Mayorga claims that he was promised 8 million dollars, a figure his promoter Don King disputes. King said that he never promised Mayorga 8 million and has no idea where the figure is coming from. Golden Boy Promotions are also in the dark with respect to Mayorga's claim of receiving 8 million for the bout. Mayorga told numerous members of the media that attended the press conference that if he does not receive his money, he will not fight De La Hoya this coming Saturday.
At the present, there is no word on whether or not the situation has been straightened out. Several insiders feel that Mayorga might be pulling a publicity stunt prior to the fight in order to play mind games with De La Hoya.
