World-rated cruiserweight (and former super middleweight and light heavyweight) contender Maxim Vlasov continued his ascent yesterday at the Korston Hotel in Moscow, Russia. Taking part in Shamir Petrosyan’s next night of action, the 31-year old boxer-puncher got his second win this year by quickly dispatching Malawian Mussa Ajibu in three rounds.

Ajibu, also 31, fought for the first time out of Africa. However, he got some notoriety after his latest fight, when he fought on even terms with Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola and even dropped him once before succumbing to the power of a feared puncher in the fifth. Ajibu was ahead on points at the time of stoppage.

However, against WBO #5, IBF #6, WBA #9 and WBC #11 Vlasov his power and technique were almost non-existent. The Malawian was dropped once in the first, once in the second round, and then stopped standing defenseless in the third. Vlasov improves to solid 39-2, 22 KOs. He is 9-0, 7 KOs, since losing to future WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez Sanchez in a close ten-round affair in January 2015. Mussa Ajibu is now 28-9-5, 24 KOs.

In a co-feature, Kazakhstan’s golden girl Firuza Sharipova (6-1, 4 KOs) got her fourth consecutive win (and the third kayo in a row) by stopping debuting student Bianca Pryashka (0-1) in two.
