This Friday night Maurice "Mighty Mo" Hooker (17-0-2) will face Eduardo Galindo (10-0-1) at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center In Dallas, Texas in a 10 round bout for the vacant WBO NABO super lightweight title.
The 25-year-old Hooker said he had a great camp and is looking forward to fighting for his first regional title. He also revealed that he sparred with a former champion.
"I had a pretty good training camp. I sparred with Antonio DeMarco from Mexico and an undefeated Russian guy. I helped DeMarco get ready for the Rances Barthelemy fight and he helped me get ready for my fight. I am going to be ranked after this fight and will be looking for a big name.
"I am willing to fight anybody at 140. I'm ready to take over at 140. I'm really cool with Rances but I would fight him. I actually got ready two fighters to fight him. DeMarco and also (Argenis) Mendez. He is real slick," said Hooker.
Hooker said that he already has sparred with some of the best in the division and wouldn't have a problem with facing them in a real fight.
"I fought Terence Crawford and Ruslan in sparring. I feel like I'm ready to step up. Crawford is very smart in the ring. He made me think a lot. He's good sparring. Provodnikov didn't really hit too hard. I outboxed him but it's different when it's 8 ounce gloves and not 18," Hooker told BoxingScene.com.
