Dangerous junior welterweight Lucas Matthysse (34-3, 32KOs) needed several months to rest his body, according to his manager Mario Arano.
Matthysse just returned to the gym and expects to return to action on a date in April. He was last seen in action last September, when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to WBC/WBA champion Danny Garcia.
Arano said Matthysse has fully recovered from a fractured right orbital bone that he suffered during the fight with Garcia. During the match, Matthysse's eye was practically swollen shut by the end.
"A vacation was needed after a year with three big fights in America. He already recovered from his fractured right orbital bone that he suffered that night [against Garcia]," said Arano.
Arano is looking to position Matthysse for a major title shot by the end of the year.
