Lucas Matthysse recently made an exclusive appearance on BoxingScene Radio and discussed a variety of topics. The Argentinean recently made a big career move and retained the services of Al Haymon who is considered to be the most influential advisor in the sport.

Those fighters under the Haymon umbrella often find themselves in big fights that come along with lucrative pay days. The track record speaks for itself and Matthysse is the newest fighter to join the Haymon stable.

Matthysse was asked if he felt signing with Haymon would produce immediate results and put him in the best position possible to land the big fights against the likes of Danny Garcia and even Floyd Mayweather.

“Yes, the truth is I think it will help me a lot but first we need to go through this fight here [with Lamont Peterson] that's very important to me. And yes, I think winning this fight I will get much better fights and hopefully I can face Danny Garcia or Mayweather. The truth is they would be important fights for me and that's why this fight [with Peterson] is important for me to win because a lot of doors will open up for me and even more important fights” Matthysse would tell BoxingScene Radio.

One fight however that Matthysse isn’t too concerned with is the one he could potentially have if he were to get to the finale of the 140 pound tourney Golden Boy is staging. The plan is for the winner of Matthysse-Peterson to square off against Danny Garcia and the winner of that will face Khan in the grand finale.

Lucas says he’s heard of the Khan fight being a possibility should he continue winning but he’s actually not interested in facing the Bolton native.

“Yes, that's what they're talking about. They're saying [the winner] will fight Amir Khan but I'm looking for better fights. I want to face different type of fighters. Truthfully there's talks of us facing Amir Khan but the truth is I'm not interested, I want to face better fighters” revealed Matthysse.
