Argentinian Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34KOs) is preparing for the fight of his life against Ukrainian, Victor Postol, who's seeking the opportunity of a lifetime with the WBC super lightweight championship on the line.
The fight is brushstroked for September at a battleground venue still to be pinpointed in the US
The boxer from Argentina is having deserved rest along with his family before the gathering storm clouds and the coming titanic effort.
“ I am really happy with the place I am now. I've earned it. I am really happy being recognized by the Argentinian people on the street, ” a delighted Lucas commented to Channel 3 in Argentina.
“ I am fully confident of defeating Postol, who is an undefeated fighter. I have seen some of his fights. He looks like John Molina. It will be an interesting match. I am now using my jab better. I did this against Provodnikov. It enabled me to do different things.
“Provodnikov wants the rematch and he has power. I couldn’t believe it when he still came right at me in the 6 th round with all he'd previously received. I thought, what I need to do to knock him out?
“I am a little upset when I hear that my team doesn’t function and that I need to go to the US. I am really happy with "Profe" Erbín, "Cirujano" Morales, "Látigo" Coggi and "Cuty" Barrera. They all do a wonderful job inside and outside the ring.
"De La Hoya is my boxing idol. He has been really great with me . I believe that the fight against Pacquiao will be possible, but first I want to defeat Postol.”
