British welterweight Matthew Hatton is very interested in facing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on March 5 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Alvarez's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions, was trying to get WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko, who rejected an offer of $550,000 dollars to take the fight. A source told Mexican papers that Hatton would come a lot cheaper, at around $200,000, and Canelo would receive between $250-300,000 for the fight.

"I would like to fight him. Saul is a great fighter, one of the top prospects and has a good style. It would be a great fight, I have no doubt and exciting for the fans. I think it's a step closer to a world title and we both know that. I'm also interested because it would mean a return to fight in the U.S.," said Hatton.

Golden Boy also tried to get IBF champion Jan Zaveck, who is currently not interested in fighting outside of Europe at this time.
