According to the Times Online, Ricky's younger brother, Matthew Hatton (35-4, 13KOs), will go up against Ted Bami (26-4, 13KOs) on March 28 at the Altrincham Leisure Centre. Bami is a former European junior welterweight champion. Hatton is coming off the best win of his career, a ten round decision over veteran Ben Tackie.
The fight headlines the first solo show by Hatton Promotions, the company recently by brother Ricky and their father Ray. The fight is said to be an IBO eliminator for a shot at the title held by by Isaac Hlatshwayo of South Africa. As the paper notes, the IBO does not push for mandatory defenses of their titles so it's a mystery on how a fight between the winner and Hlastshwayo will be forced to happen.
The show will also feature the debut of Olympian Joe Murray.
