2016 has been a good one for lightweight contender Mason Menard (32-1, 24KOs), who has scored two nationally televised knockouts this year on ShoBox. Back in April he viciously stopped the previously undefeated Eudy Bernardo in three rounds and then in August he halted Bahodir Mamadjonov in nine.
Now, he will return to his home state, where he had previously fought for much of his career.
His promoter, Greg Cohen advised BoxingScene.com - "Mason's going to be making his first defense of his NABO title on the 27th of October in Lafayette, Louisiana. We're having a homecoming for Mason."
This card will take place at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel. Cohen believes that 'Rock Hard Mighty' can become a regional draw much the same way Terence Crawford is in Omaha, Nebraska.
"We have visions of doing something like that with Mason, obviously he's fought there close to thirty times already and he's a crowd favorite and now that he's gained some popularity on the national stage and is now the number five rated lightweight in the world, he's not just thought of as a hometown fighter. He's thought off as a world-class fighter who just happens to be from Louisiana,"stated Cohen, who says plans are in place to stream this card.
"We are right now in discussions with FloBoxing.TV and I believe that's where we will end up for that particular card."
