Lightweight contender, Mason Menard, coming off two knockout victories on ShoBox was scheduled to face Emiliano Martin Garcia at the Double Tree Hotel in Lafayette, Louisiana on Thursday night. But an issue of bookkeeping has cancelled the entire event.

"Unfortunately, there was a discrepancy between Garcia's record as posted on Boxrec and the official records kept on Fight Fax and the local commission goes by Fight Fax, which is certainly understandable, most commissions do,"explained  Menard's promoter, Greg Cohen on Wednesday morning.

"But even though the commission in Argentina confirmed that 16 of his 17 fights were held in Argentina under their commission and verified, unfortunately, it's not on Fight Fax and the commission was not willing to accept that and unfortunately the event had to get cancelled."

Cohen continued,"It's something that's very upsetting, I don't blame the commission. I understand the commission is doing their job and they have their rules and they have to stick to their rules. What's unfortunate is this kids really 16-1, you would watch a good portion of his fights on Youtube, the fights did happen under the Argentine commission. This is one of those things when you think you've heard everything in boxing and then you realize there's always something else around the corner."

According to Cohen because the large majority of tickets to this card were sold because of Menard, the entire show was taken down.

As for what's next for Menard (32-1, 24 KO's), Cohen said to Boxingscene.com,"I'll speak with his manager and trainer, Chad Broussard and Mason, we'd like to fight by the end of the year. If not, worse case scenario he'll fight on one of my CBS shows in January. Best case scenario is he's fighting on Showtime or HBO. We just had the WBO convention, he's number five and he's NABO champion, he's right there in the mix for a title shot."
