In a correction to an earlier story, the fight venue for Oleg Maskaev's defense of the WBC heavyweight title against mandatory Sanuel Peter on Feb. 2 is still not secured.
In our previous report, when talking about middleweight John Duddy (23-0, 17KOs) securing a spot on the undercard against Matt "The Predator" Vanda (37-5, 21KOs), the venue was erroneously listed as New York's Madison Square Garden.
BoxingScene.com was emailed by a source close to the situation, who said the Showtime televised event would land in either Connecticut, Atlantic City or third possible location in New Jersey.
The fight was originally slated for MSG, but the venue has a heavy boxing schedule in the same time period. Felix Trinidad-Roy Jones Jr. falls on Jan. 19 and Wladimir Klitschko-Sultan Ibragimov takes place on Feb. 23. Garden officials felt the events were too close together, among other problems with Maskaev-Peter, and various conflicts.
