Sept. 24 Harrisburg Card Canceled Due to Flood

Saturday’s scheduled fight card at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, Pa., has been canceled as a result of a flood caused by a nearly 30-foot rise in the Susquehanna River, according to Nick Payton of Payton Promotions.
“We’ve spoken to stadium officials and we plan to try to schedule another event for the city in the Spring of 2012,” Payton said. “While we would have loved to try to keep the 24th intact, too many community members and even some of the local fighters were personally affected.”
In the main event, lightweight prospect Stan Martyniouk of Antelope, Calif. (10-1, 1 KO), was slated to face Osnel Charles of Atlantic City, N.J. (9-2, 1 KO).
“It was the responsible decision to cancel, and we look forward to coming back to that area next year,” Payton added. “In the meantime, we will continue to do shows in Philadelphia and showcase the talents of Stan Martyniouk and Josh Bowles.”
Information from DogHouseBoxing’s John Raspanti contributed to the report.
