Tyson Fury had already shown before that he knows how to drive interest in a fight - and he showed that again this past Saturday by getting into the ring and confronting Deontay Wilder after Wilder’s win over Artur Szpilka.
That’s not Charles Martin’s style. Fortunately he has other team members who can do some trash talking for him.
Martin spoke at a post-fight press conference following his world title win over Vyacheslav Glazkov on the Wilder-Szpilka undercard. He was asked to break down the flaws he sees in Fury. Instead he just looked toward his promoter, Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing.
“I’m not a bad guy. I don’t like talking down on people; it’s not my style,” Martin said. “Everybody has their little things, the little kinks in their armor that can be exposed if you know how to capitalize on them.”
His manager, Mike Borao, praised Fury as “an unbelievable self-promoter” for the way he hypes up himself and his fights, but he couldn’t resist a crack at what he believed would happen to Fury if he fought Martin.
“He’s big, and he’ll look great getting knocked out,” Borao said.
