Trainer Pablo Sarmiento has lashed out at experts who believe WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) is finished, as he nears a finalized deal to face former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) on June 7th at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Martinez returns after suffering several injuries in his decision win over Martin Murray last April.

"To say that Martinez is finished is a big lie. Sergio is fine and his recovery has been good. He is fully recovered from the injuries. In June, you are going to see the same Sergio Martinez that you saw against [Julio Cesar] Chavez. He will be very fast, moving in and out and I believe he is going to hit Cotto a lot. He's going to give him a boxing lesson," Sarmiento said.
