According to undefeated WBO super featherweight champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez (23-0, 14KOs), the fight in England with Ricky Burns (27-2, 7KOs), scheduled for April 24, has not been finalized as of yet. Martinez is still negotiating the terms with his promoters Puerto Rico Best Boxing.
He did not reach an agreement with them on terms and the fight may head to a purse bid.
"The fight is going to a purse bid. They offered very little money and we are waiting on the outcome of the purse bid. They made us an offer but we did not agree. We are going to see what happens in the next few days," Martinez told El Vocero.
Martinez traveled to England last year to knock out Nicky Cook to win the title. Burns, the Commonwealth (British Empire) super featherweight, has built a twelve fight win streak since losing a unanmous decision to Carl Johanneson in 2007.
