Vic Drakulich will be the referee for the Sept. 12 fight between 130-pound titleholder Roman Martinez and Orlando Salido, a rematch of the bout Martinez won by unanimous decision this past April.
Martinez-Salido 2 will be on the pay-per-view undercard to Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Drakulich was selected at the Aug. 27 meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Drakulich has never worked a Martinez fight before and has refereed one Salido bout, his third-round stoppage of Fred Neal back in 2003, according to BoxRec.
The commission also selected Burt Clements, Patricia Morse-Jarman and Glenn Feldman to be the judges for the fight.
Clements has not judged either man before. Neither has Feldman.
Morse-Jarman has not worked a Martinez fight before but has judged two Salido fights. She had him over Robert Guerrero by the widest margin, 118-110, back in a 2006 fight that was overturned into a “no decision” when Salido tested positive for a banned steroid. She also was ringside for Salido’s knockout win over Terdsak Kokietgym in their 2014 war.
