EBU lightweight champion Emiliano Marsili (30-0-1) will still go through with a voluntary defence of the title on January 24 but the opponent is now Hungarian Gyorgy Miszei (21-11) after Antonio De Vitis pulled out. Miszei was also Marsili´s opponent in September and Marsili won on a unanimous decision on scores of 116-113 twice and 118-116.
On Tuesday, the EBU announced that Rakhim Chahkhiev would make a voluntary defense of the cruiserweight title on a date in March, in Moscow, against Polish contender Lukasz Janik.
Today´s announcement from the EBU reads that the fight is off and was probably never on, at least according to Janik´s management.
