According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez is returning to action on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There is no word on the opponent but Marquez and Golden Boy would like the opponent to be Ricky Hatton.
Over the last few weeks, Hatton has hinted at a ring return but he is dragging his feet when it comes to making a solid confirmation on a ring return. Schaefer is tired of waiting for Hatton to make up his mind on whether he will fight again. Schaefer is already on the hunt for a good opponent to face Marquez on the May date.
"I touched base with the Hatton camp on Monday," said Schaefer to sportsillustrated.com. "I think Ricky wants to fight again but we're done waiting around. Juan wants to stay busy and we are going to find someone for him to fight."
