WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez is ready for a third war with Manny Pacquiao. There are two possible dates, but reports in Mexico indicate the fight is more likely to happen on November 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas - with a possible catch-weight of 144-pounds. An agreement must be reached and Golden Boy Promotions, who formerly promoted Marquez, have the ability to squash the third meeting by matching the offer from Pacquaio's promoter, Top Rank.
Marquez is looking to return in July, possibly against David Diaz at junior welterweight, and then wants Pacquiao in November. If Golden Boy happens to match the offer, the other options for Pacquiao include Timothy Bradley and Zab Judah.
"People wanted to see a fight, and unfortunately the styles [of Pacquiao and Mosley] did not accomodate them. I would like this fight. I'm sure that when I face Manny, people will see a real fight," Marquez told Sal Rodriguez.
