As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, former four division world champion Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) has basically ruled out the idea of fighting in 2015.
There was talk of Marquez potentially coming back in December, but he dismissed that possibility during a press conference which took place on the premises of the Professional Boxing Commission of Mexico City.
Marquez admitted that a typical training camp will take him at least three to four months and there simply isn't enough time to get ready for a possible fight in December.
The 42-year-old veteran has been away from the ring since May 2014, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mike Alvarado. A knee injury caused him to postpone his return several times. He says the knee is doing much better.
A return at this point seems more and more unlikely, but Marquez is not ruling out a fight in 2016.
He is still motivated by the idea of winning a fifth division belt. Marquez plans to speak with his promoter, Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions, about some possibilities for next year.
Marquez revealed that he plans to keep a close eye on the outcome of the November 7th bout between WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and challenger Brandon Rios.
Bradley won a twelve round decision over Marquez in October of 2013. It was a close split decision on the cards and Marquez has cried foul every since, by claiming that he was robbed on the scorecards and demanding a rematch to set things straight.
