Veteran Juan Manuel Marquez expects a very tough fight if Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) trains at his very best for a potential all-Mexican showdown with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34KOs).

Their teams are discussing a pay-per-view fight for May 6th, with a catch-weight of 165-pounds. Chavez, who competes at super middleweight, would have to move down by three pounds. And Canelo - who holds the WBO junior middleweight title - would have to go up by eleven.

Chavez Jr. returned to the ring earlier this month and won a hard-fought ten round unanimous decision over Germany's Dominik Britsch (32-3-1, 11KOs) in Monterrey, Mexico.

Marquez, a former four division world champion, predicts the fight will be very good - as long as Chavez takes his training seriously. Chavez trained very hard for his last fight and weighed under the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds - which is something he hasn't done since 2014.

Despite the size disparity, Marquez gives Canelo the edge in the contest.

"I think if Julio prepares very well, he will see a lot of advantages - but he needs to prepare himself 100 percent like Canelo. It's a tough fight for Julio but he must prepare well for it to be a good fight," said Marquez to ESPN Deportes.

"I think Canelo would have some advantage in the fight because of the speed he has, but in terms of the the weight issue [in terms of size] I think it would favor Chavez, but what's factual here is the fight would create a good combination."
