Former four division world cahmpion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs), 42-years-old, has yet to officially announce his retirement from the sport.
The Mexican veteran has been away from the ring since May 2014, when he won a twelve round decision over Mike Alvarado. Since that bout, Marquez has been inactive while dealing with a knee injury.
Marquez's drive to continue fighting seemed to dwindle after securing his signature career win, when he knocked out Manny Pacquiao in six rounds in their fourth and final meeting in 2012.
He admits that a partial driving force for his career was the urge to avenge what he saw as controversial defeats to Pacquiao.
"I am a person who never likes to lose, and that helped me to keep going. I am a passionate person when it comes to the sport," Marquez said.
Marquez explained that his training camps are taken very seriously and it's not an easy thing to go through.
"In training I stop seeing my family. I do my training on a mountain. I feel like I'm always at home [in training like that], but focused on what I have to do, and family practically does not exist for me in that span of time. I completely isolate myself," Marquez said.
