WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Márquez is busy training and trying to finalize his plans for a July fight in Mexico City. Everything is being prepared to get him ready for a trilogy fight with Manny Pacquiao on November 12 in Las Vegas. Marquez will stage his July fight at junior welterweight to get himself ready for the catch-weight of 144 with Pacquiao.
Marquez wants to come in the ring against Pacquiao at 100% physically and mentally. In their two prior meetings, Marquez and Pacquiao fought to a twelve round draw in 2004, and Pacquiao won a very close split decision in their 2008 rematch. Marquez felt that he was robbed in both fights. To win the third fight, Marquez doesn't want to take any shortcuts with anything and that's why he wants to stay sharp with a July fight, stating that he needs to be at his "best ever" to ensure a victory over Pacquiao.
"This is a hard fight, but I know how to defeat him. We need to get well prepared mentally and we need to be in better physical condition than we've ever been in the past so we can beat Pacquiao," Marquez said.
