If Juan Manuel Marquez is able to pull off a major upset by beating Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, trainer/manager Nacho Beristain would like to see his fighter get a shot at the welterweight title, possibly at a catch-weight. If Marquez is able to beat Mayweather, don't be surprised if the Mexican warrior immediately targets the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto winner. Pacquiao and Cotto face off for the WBO welterweight title at the catch-weight of 145-pounds, only a pound higher than the catch-weight for Mayweather-Marquez.

"We will continue to win the fight ina way that would allow Juan to become the idol of the Mexican people. After this fight, I would like Juan to fight for the welterweight title," Beristain told The Record.

With less than a month to go, Beristain is very confident about his fighter's chances of winning the fight. He was not that confident a month ago but after watching the way Marquez has worked in camp and the way he grew his body into a strong welterweight form, Beristain sees a win for his man.

"After the way I've seen him work in camp, I have recovered my faith. Juan has worked very hard and as always, has given it everything has has," Beristain said.
