Expo Forum, Hermosillo, Mexico - Prospect Mario Villela overcame a dangerous cut on his left eyelid and secured an impressive knockout in the fourth round over Francisco Rodriguez. The fight scheduled for six rounds at super bantamweight. "Super" Villela (10-1, 9 KOs) landed a left hook right on Rodriguez's chin as he entered in, causing him to fall limp on his back and immediately the referee Jose Moraga terminated fight.

After spending a few minutes unconscious and being treated by the medical physicians of the local commission, "Chico" Rodriguez recovered, but he was taken out of the ring on a stretcher by paramedics and taken to the hospital for observation.

Villela returned to his winning ways after suffering a controversial defeat on December 17 in Ciudad Obregon against Saul Hermosillo.
