The results are in. Antonio Margarito's urinalysis, taken for last weekend's fight against Miguel Cotto, have come back negative for any drugs and/or steroids. Sergio Diaz, co-manager to the new WBA welterweight champion, informed BoxingScene.com that Margarito was been given a clean bill of health by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Despite the test results not being received by the Nevada Commission until today, rumors began as early as last Sunday [following Margarito's knockout of Cotto] that Margarito had tested positive for steroids. The rumor quickly spread like a forest fire. Margarito's team eventually backtracked the rumor to a local radio station in Puerto Rico.
"It was nothing but rumors. We were told today that Tony's tests came back negative," Diaz said. "Margarito is a true warrior and we are looking ahead to the next big fight."
