Former three time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito spoke with BoxingScene.com about a variety of topics that concern the boxing scene in Mexico. Besides Margarito's upcoming fight with Manny Pacquiao on November 13, another fight receiving a lot of hype in Mexico is the potential December clash between Miguel Cotto and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
"I think it's a real good fight. It has the potential to be a great fight, but obviously I'm with Chavez Jr.," Margarito told BoxingScene.com.
A young up and comer making waves in Mexico is Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The junior middleweight prospect is already a star his country, and now Golden Boy Promotions is giving him a big push in the United States.
"I'm not interested in him. Who cares? Let [Golden Boy President] Oscar De La Hoya worry about him," Margarito said.
Margarito's response on Alvarez brought us to the subject of the ongoing feud between him and De La Hoya. A fight between the two of them is still a subject of interest to Margarito.
"Whatever he has against me, it's his problem. I don't even care. I don't know what it is. You have to ask him. I'm willing to shut his mouth by stepping in the ring to do it," Margarito said.
