If Ricardo Mayorga (29-7, 23KOs) pulls off the upset by beating WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28KOs) on March 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum would seriously consider the possibility of matching him against Antonio Margarito (38-7, 27KOs) in June. A Cotto-Margarito rematch has already been penciled in for the month of June, but a win by Mayorga would spoil those plans.
"Absolutely [we would consider the fight]. If Mayorga defeats Cotto, he's a hot property again. I would work closley with [Mayorga's promoter] Don [King], whether it's Mayorga against Margarito or [Manny] Pacquiao. Anybody who hits the way he hits, and he's fighting a guy like Cotto who bangs back and is a brave son of a b*tch, has a real good chance," Arum said to BoxingScene.com.
