Don Tremblay of Main Events has just contacted BoxingScene.com to inform us that Kermit Cintron vs. Antonio Margarito is a done deal for the April 12 undercard to Miguel Cotto's defense of the WBA welterweight title against Alfonso Gomez at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
HBO will televise.
Cintron (29-1, 27KOs) will defend his IBF welterweight title against Margarito (35-5, 25KOs) in a rematch of their 2005 encounter, where Margarito handed Cintron the only loss of his career with a fifth-round stoppage. The winner has been promised a unification bout with Cotto for July (provided that he beats Gomez).
Zab Judah, who was previously scheduled to fight Margarito on the card, could not come to terms with Top Rank on the money being offered.
