Marcos "Chino" Maidana is looking very strong in camp. The first stage of his training camp is about to end. Maidana and his new trainer, Rudy Perez, will leave their training facility in Mexico and travel to Las Vegas to finish training for the fight against Erik Morales, scheduled for April 9 at the MGM Grand.

"I've been here for a month and a week. I prepared thoroughly because I want to regain the title at 140 pounds," Maidana said. "This time I decided to come to Mexico City to train because of the high sea level. And Golden Boy Promotions also recommended Rudy Perez, who is a great coach and knows Morales well."

With a record of 29-2, and 27 knockouts, "Chino" said Erik has extensive experience.

"Morales is dangerous because he knows how to handle the ring, but I will win at all costs. The most dangerous thing about him is his experience, that's doesn't have me concerned. I am calm. I'm looking to beat him by knockout, although it will be difficult because of his vast experience in the ring. I've watched some videos of him and I will be careful. I'll be ready for twelve rounds," Maidana said.

Maidana has been sparring with Jonathan "Pantera" Peña, Alejandro "Elegido" Barrera and Óscar Pereyra.

Rudy Perez, meanwhile, said that "I have a family feud with Erik, who is a legend. I admire him for his career. I was happy when he beat Manny Pacquiao. Maidana always comes forward and all I do is teach him my technique. He is disciplined. I was surprised. He is a professional, and has no complains about the work, unlike many others."
