Las Vegas - BoxingScene.com spoke with junior welterweight Marcos Maidana as he prepared for his final workout to promote this Saturday's championship fight with WBA champion Amir Khan at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Maidana looked very strong, and fast, as he pounded the mitts at the IBA Gym.
Following the workout, Maidana told BoxingScene that he's very eager to trade punches with Khan, but he doesn't see that happening. Maidana expects Khan to stay at a safe distance, and use rapid movement to avoid power punches. But, if Khan decides to stand his ground, Maidana feels confident that either hand could knock Khan out.
"I keep hearing that he wants to stand there and trade, but if that happens then it could be over quick," Maidana said to BoxingScene.com. "I don't think he's going to do that. I think he's going to run. He won't be able to stay way. I know how to cut off the ring with him and I'll get to him with my punches."
