Former junior welterweight and welterweight world champion Marcos 'Chino' Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) has been away from the ring since September 2014, when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision in his rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Maidana has not won a fight since a shocking upset over then undefeated Adrien Broner back December of 2013. That victory earned him his first pay-per-view shot at Mayweather the following May.

Between the large purses that he made in the Mayweather and Broner fights, Maidana has been living like a king in his native Argentina.

Many believe Maidana has retired from the sport of boxing. The veteran says that he never walked away from the sport, but also won't confirm the possibility of fighting again in the future.

"If you recall I never said that I was retiring, but I have no idea if I'm going to return. I still don't know what I'll do," Maidana said.

Last  month Maidana traveled to Texas to support his brother Fabian. For many American boxing fans it was their first glimpse of Maidana in several years.

During his time away, Maidana has put on a lot of weight. He is not concerned with the body gains and says a 'healthy diet' combined with 'work in the gym' is all he needs to get the weight off.

Should he return, being advised by Al Haymon would open up the door to several lucrative matchups. Haymon also advises welterweights Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Errol Spence, Adrien Broner and several others.
