Super middleweight prospect Marco Romero has his first bout of 2026 set – and his second one as well.
Romero will fight Chown Sims in an eight-rounder on February 19 at the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs in Florida, according to a press release.
The event is promoted by Hall of Fame boxer Christy Martin and is titled “Champions Against Domestic Violence.” Martin herself is a survivor of domestic violence.
And then Romero will headline on March 20 in Independence, Missouri, which is located about 20 minutes east of Kansas City. According to show promoter KC Boxing Promotions, Romero will face William Langston at the Truman Memorial Building.
Romero, 11-0 (10 KOs), is a 20-year-old from Olathe, Kansas, which is about half an hour from Kansas City. He turned pro in 2024 and fought four times that year, and then seven times in 2025. He’s apparently seeking to continue that busy pace – and would also like to extend his eight-fight knockout streak. In Romero’s most recent bout, he dispatched the 9-9 Martez McGregor in 129 seconds in December.
Sims, 10-2 (5 KOs), is a 30-year-old from Jackson, Mississippi. He is coming off a loss via sixth-round TKO last September to 12-0 light heavyweight prospect Atif Oberlton.
“He [Sims] has been in with a lot of good fighters,” Romero said in a press release. “I know Oberlton; we were in the amateurs at the same time. We’ll find out what my opponent is made of when he gets in the ring with me on February 19.”
Langston, 14-5-1 (9 KOs), is a 31-year-old from Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was outpointed by the 12-0 Moreno Fendero in November.
Romero is a free agent who is hoping to draw the attention of a promoter.
“My goals are to sign with a big promoter, fight on bigger stages against bigger names, eventually fighting for a world title on a show back home in Kansas City,” Romero said. “I ended last year strong, and I want to start 2026 by making a statement.”
