Famed German coach Ulli Wegner has been working with WBO cruiserweight champion Marko Huck (38-2-1, 26 KOs) since the boxer made his pro debut until now, guiding him through a disappointing TKO 12 loss to Steve Cunningham five years ago.

Earlier this week, Huck announced his intention to break away from his life-long promoter, Sauerland Events, in order to continue his career as a self-promoted fighter. It appears that it cost him Wegner in his corner.

“We can get along just fine with the fact that Marco wants to part ways with us and to arrange his own promotional company”, said Kalle Sauerland. “We shall sit with Marco to discuss an approach for a future working interaction between Sauerland Event and his team. If everything is worked out well, then nothing will prevent him from continuing his partnership with Ulli”.

“Surely, I wish to continue my work with Ulli”, Huck was cited by Sportbox.ru. “But if I cannot get along with SE, then I’m ready to part ways with Ulli as well”.

Wegner himself ensured the same source he was ready to continue his partnership with the champion but only if he will be allowed to do so by his employer – Sauerland Event.
