A few boxers were disapointed to learn that Marco Huck will retain his WBO cruiserweight championship. A few fighters, like mandatory challenger Ola Afolabi, thought Huck was going to vacate the belt or the WBO would possibly strip him of the title. On February 25th in Germany, Huck is moving up in weight to challenge Alexander Povetkin for the WBA's "regular" heavyweight championship.
"Huck came to us requesting the retention of his champion belt, despite the conduct of the fight in another weight division. We want to meet him. In this case, within ten days after the fight with Povetkin, Huck must decide whether he would continue his career at heavyweight or re-enter cruiserweight," the World Boxing Organization said in a statement.
