MEXICO CITY, Mexico - Marco Antonio "El Veneno" Rubio (50-5-1, 43KOs), the WBC's Latino middleweight champion, is returning from one of the biggest wins of his career, April's big upset knockout of previously undefeated David Lemieux (25-1, 25KOs). Rubio takes another fight on Saturday at Foro Polanco in Mexico City, against Argentina's Ricardo Ramallo (13-1, 7KOs), who enters the fight as a late replacement.
The victory over Lemieux made Rubio the mandatory challenger for WBC middleweight crown. On the same day that Rubio enters the ring, countryman Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will challenge the WBC champion Sebastian Zbik in Los Angeles. Rubio wants to be impressive on Saturday to further his cause to face the winner. Rubio is also a rumored opponent for Sergio Martinez on October 1.
"I put a lot of trust in the power of my punches. I will always try to end the fight early if the opportunity presents itself," Rubio said.
