Super middleweight contender Marco Antonio Periban (22-3-1, 14 KOs) stopped Carlos Adan Jerez (42-19-3, 18 KOs) in the fifth round of the main event at the Civic Center in Ecatepec, Mexico. Periban battered Jerez until the towel eventually came in.
Periban now wins his second consecutive fight after going winless for nearly two years. He was once considered a rising star in at 168-pounds but a streak of bad luck hit him in some of his recent fights.
He lost a close majority decision when battling for the WBC title with Sakio Bika. He then went to a ten round draw against current WBC champion Badou Jack, and then lost a close ten round decision after nearly scoring knockout of J'Leon Love, and then last November third round knockout loss to James DeGale.
