It appears that a deal to match former three-division champion Marco Antonio Barrera (63-6, 42KOs) and WBA "regular" lightweight champion Yusuke Kobori (23-2-1, 12KOs) is close - according to Marco's brother Jorge Barrera. Marco is said to be already training in Guadalajara, Mexico. The fight would take place on November 7, probably in the main event slot on Don King's planned event in China. The fight would be held in conjunction with the scheduled WBC convention for the first week of November.

Jorge told ESTO that his brother's attorneys are looking over the offer to face Kobori on the November date and a decision will be made soon. The fight will be Barrera's debut as a Don King fighter. He recently signed a reported five-year deal with the veteran promoter after breaking ties with Golden Boy Promotions a few months ago.

A victory over Kobori would make Barrera the first Mexican fighter to win four titles in four weight divisions, which has been one of his career goals. He is currently tied at three with Erik Morales and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.
