Marco Antonio Barrera is in training camp for the March 14 encounter with Amir Khan in Manchester, but plans to keep a close eye on the outcome of this Saturday's bout between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz. Marquez-Diaz is for the vacant WBO and WBA lightweight titles.
Barrera lost a close decision to Marquez in 2007. He is the mandatory lightweight challenger under the WBO rankings and stands in line to fight the winner, if he beats Khan.
"Juan Diaz is a fighter who always comes forward, likes to throw a lot of punches and can throw them from any angle. Marquez is a born counterpuncher. That is his specialty. Marquez is very active and intelligent in the ring. It will be an excellent fight and a big test for Marquez," Barrera said.
