After taking three tough fights in 2008, the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Manny Pacquiao, wants to take some time off. The next fight is already being lined up, against recognized junior welterweight champion Ricky Hatton. The initial talks for the first super fight of 2009 will be starting soon. Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, plans to speak with Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, next week.
"Let's see if we can do it again may be May or June?" Pacquiao was quoted as saying by GMA News.
Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, says a Hatton fight makes the most sense for Manny in every single category; from money to style.
"Hatton is the best fight out there for us right now, money-wise, style-wise. He's a hard guy. He likes to fight. It would be a very interesting fight. I think the world would love to see that and Manny has been always wants to give the world what they want," Roach said.
